The Competing Kingdoms

Is this dance to suggest that we find true fulfillment, happiness, and transformation only in death - when this lives distractions are finally done away with?

Absolutely not! I think this interprets the human struggle of the Christian. I see a young lady (in video) who has experienced the love and joy of living with Christ. I then see the world hurling all kinds of sin at her, drawing her from her first love. Notice "Jesus" never leaves her sight, she simply is focused elsewhere. Then I see a heart that is broken and fighting to return to Jesus no matter the consequenses or struggle, only to find a Savior ready, able, and willing to spread his arms in love, place the sin on His shoulders, and protect the precious soul who has returned to Him. God be praised for that sacrifice! It gets me through each day...

garyneat,
I actually took the exact opposite away...I saw the girl as escaping death (literally & figuratively) and coming back to life in Christ.

I geuss I'm Art/Dance illiterate. I kept waiting for Jesus / Holy Spirit to step in and help her.

Anonymous' comments are great! They are true. They give hope and probably preach very well. But I struggle with the real life everyday aspect of it all.
How does it work? How much "help" do we get? Is it supernatural help?
Do some of us get more help then others?

These questions are not intended to cause disagreement and aurgument - just discussion

What I noticed is that He didn't step in to help her until she was seeking him again....just my interpretation...

My "real life everyday" aspect is submitting myself to His will. I guess it's "hindsight is 20-20", but events in life when I knowingly and purposefully strive to make Christ first, are the times that I truly feel His protection around me. I have strength and direction that I simply know is not my own. (re: Phil 4:13). Sadly, there I times that I simply don't care to put Him first (OH!) and try it my own way. I can't really explain the torment and fighting for my soul at that point. It's almost perfectly depicted as I view this video. Don't you love "interpretive dance" ? Great thoughts.

We get all the help that we need if we only turn things over to Christ. Grant it the answer may not be as we think but in time we grow to understand.
God is there if we want his help...

Outstanding video. What struck me is that all the sins, the money, sexuality, and drinking enslaved her to the point of despair. These things that the world tells us will free us will ultimately destroy, if not in this life the next. He is strong in our weakness. I loved it when I saw the man depicting Jesus conquer the sin she couldn't. He had his arms stretched out as if on the cross. Standing between her and all of her demons.
Gary I can only speak from my own experience. But it seems that the more of my life I give to God the more help he gives me. Supernatural I think so. Remember that when we read the bible we read the acutally thoughts and words of GOD. How cool is that!! When we beckon to the spirit and he comes to help us we are being helped by the creator of all things. Supercool!! Supernatural!!
ONe of my favorite spiritual experiences is when I am struggling with something and I go to read the bible. I am amazed at how many times an applicable verse is revealed to me. Or when I go to a brother with a problem and he is struggling with the same thing and has wisdom to offer. I don't believe in coincidences with God. Its all in his control if you'll allow him to drive. Supernatural?

Anonymous,
Great Insite! Thanks for the encouragment. It all makes perfect sense if we would just learn to let it.

I know I am a little slow in seeing this video, but I first have to say Powerful! I am not usually moved by these things anymore as I feel I have seen every interpretive dance of this genre set to a different song, but this went a little further than I have seen before. A little more poignant. Then, I was sucked in by the comments left here and felt the need to jump in on the discussion. I find it interesting that we are discussing the extent to which Christ helps each of us. I am thankful for parables like the worker in the vineyard who comes to work at the end of the day but is paid the same wages as the workers who had been there all day (Mt 20). We needn't forget that we are all saved from demons we cannot save ourselves from, each to an equal degree. The degree to which I am saved (aka the degree to which "I am helped") is just as great as anyone else's. What the video stirs in me is not a matter of how much help should one receive or even to what degree is there a supernatural force working that grace out in us. What this video stirs in me is that Christ chose to fight that fight for each of us so that we don't have to. I notice the white shirt on the girl at the end of the video symbolizing a freedom not quenched by any earthly thing but only by the sacrifice of Christ now realized in her. The reamaining question for her is the same as what it is for me...what will I do next with that grace?

I wish we could have a drama team at MH. It is such a great way to bring the truth to life. Susan H
