Tonight I decided to go public with my New Year's resolutions. The reason is fairly simple. Every year I make resolutions and every year I break resolutions. There's really only one that I've ever kept for an entire year. The one I went public with. . .
At the beginning of 2007 I stood on the stage of our church and held up a pair of size 34 jeans. I explained that they were my favorite pair of jeans and they sat lovingly folded in my closet. Every few months or so I would pull them down and try them on. However, I rarely wore them outside of the closet. That's because I could only get them to about mid-thigh. So I told everyone that my resolution was to fit into those jeans. Twelve months and 20 pounds later, I did! The first Sunday of 2008 I proudly wore my size 34 jeans and continued to wear them throughout January and February. Around March they started getting a little tight and by April they were again folded neatly in the closet.
So weight loss is back on the top of my resolutions this year. Yet, it's been 11 days and my eating habits are unchanged. Plus my YMCA membership dues are providing great resources for all those people who actually use it. So I decided I needed a little public accountability once again. Here's my top five resolutions for 2009...
1. Lose 20 pounds (eat right and exercise).
2. Read 2-3 books a month.
3. Pray daily.
4. Write a book.
5. Leave work at work.

Those are good resolutions... I need to do all of them as well.
(Especially number 4, which I keep putting off.)
I didn't even make any resolutions this year, so perhaps it's not too late!
You're way ahead of me on number #4. Just always been a dream of mine. I just rarely find the time to write (other than sermons). Whew.
I like your resolutions and would love to read your book. I think I'm just going to be Wii fit this year. It sure seems easier :-)
Update...the other night I was leaving the church around 6:00 pm. Jen and the girls had to come pick me up because my truck is in the shop. I was walking out the door with a stack of books and Lilly asked, "Is that work?" "Yeah," I replied. Then she asked, "But aren't you supposed to leave work at work?"
I completely disagree with this whole teaching kids how to read thing. :)
Oh my...
We only have one car now too!
Hey, what do you want to write about?
Nancy
Good question. I'd like to do something along the lines of Christian spirituality. Not exactly what topic within it, but there's usually some message series that I get done with and think "I should really develop those ideas more on paper." I just never get around to it. The only thing I've actually started is a children's story of all things. I guess I've been reading too many of Lilly's books.
